Step-by-Step Guide

How to Measure Your Ring Size

1 String or Paper Strip Method

1

Cut a thin strip of paper or take a piece of non-stretchy string approximately 10 cm (4 inches) long.

2

Wrap the strip snugly around the base of your finger, just below the knuckle. It should be comfortable - not too tight, not too loose.

3

Mark the point where the strip overlaps with a pen. Lay the strip flat and measure the length in millimetres from the end to the mark.

4

Divide the measurement by 3.14159 (pi) to get the inner diameter in millimetres. Use the converter above to find your size.

2 Existing Ring Method

1

Select a ring that fits comfortably on the finger you want to measure. Make sure it is a ring that fits well - not too loose or tight.

2

Place the ring on a flat surface. Using a ruler with millimetre markings, measure the inside diameter of the ring from edge to edge.

3

Be sure to measure the widest inner point of the ring for the most accurate reading.

4

Enter the diameter in the converter above, or match it to the chart to find your ring size in any standard.

Pro Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Measure at the end of the day when fingers are at their largest.
  • Avoid measuring when your hands are cold, as fingers shrink in cold weather.
  • Measure multiple times for consistency and take the average.
  • If between sizes, choose the larger size for comfort.
  • Wide bands (over 6mm) typically need a half size larger than narrow bands.
  • Your dominant hand is usually slightly larger than the other.
